safari art, squash observations, comparing groups and more

This week was packed with exploration and creativity as we continued our safari theme and explored the real-life items found in the science center.  Our creative minds were put to work as we created our own safari class mural.  During circle time, we played safari bingo, listened for rhyming words in the poem African Animals and compared different amounts of groups.  one of our high lights this week was when we acted out "We' re Going on a Lion Hunt."

Day 1: Using paint, we began our safari class mural by painting the background.  Some of us painted flowers, grass and trees.

We played beginning sound bingo to help build our letter-sound relationship

We compared groups during circle time.  We compared how many girls there are in our class compared to boys.

There are more girls in the class than boys

We acted out "Going on a Bear Hunt"

Then we created our own version of "Going on a Lion Hunt"

We played Safari Bingo during circle time. We matched the beginning  sound of each safari animal to its first letter on the bingo board.

Day 2: On our own, we had to create grass, trees and water using various collage materials

At the science center, we explored different kinds of squash by using our senses.
We recorded our findings on an observation sheet.
